Astronaut Says Government Covering Up UFOs
Apollo 14 Veteran Edgar Mitchell Claims Conspiracy

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- An astronaut who once walked on the moon is causing a stir with claims the government is covering up the truth about aliens and UFOs.
"It's incredible to think that we might be the only intelligent, living system in the universe. That's not credible anymore," Apollo 14 veteran Edgar Mitchell told WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Friday.
Mitchell's home in a suburb of West Palm Beach is a small shrine to the nine hours and 17 minutes he spent walking on the moon
Because of his experience, Mitchell's recent comments about unidentified flying objects and aliens are getting a lot of attention.
Mitchell said that he believes the U.S. government has been covering-up the truth for more than 50 years.
"Military pilots, airline pilots, mostly, from all over the world, for 50 years, have reported these things, but they've quit because they're told to shut up and not talk about it by military and intelligence people," Mitchell said.
The 77-year-old said the deception began after the alleged alien landing in Roswell, N.M., in 1947.
Ever since, Mitchell claims, the government has been keeping proof of alien life -- and alien visits -- under wraps.
"Unfortunately, you the press show no interest whatsoever. The giggle factor has been too high. But the science behind it and the research behind it, among the people I know, is accepted. It's real," Mitchell told WPBF.
The issue gained steam earlier this week when Mitchell told a British radio interviewer that he knows that the government knows about life in outer space.
"I've been saying the same damn words for 10 years, almost verbatim, and all of a sudden, here I'm global news," he said.
Mitchell first made global news on Feb. 9, 1971, when his lunar mission earned him a place in the record book for longest moonwalk -- an unbelievable feat that he said could be topped by an alien encounter.
"It would be pretty darn exciting. I have been hoping for that type of experience since I got involved in this," he said.
Mitchell said that he does not know why the government would be covering up the existence of intelligent life.
He said he believes that John F. Kennedy was the last U.S. president to be briefed on UFOs.

A mandate to hire 6,000 new border agents by the end of 2008 has lowered qualification tests, concentrated four months of training into 10 weeks and is raising concerns that recruits won't get the proper training they need to protect the borders.
Richard Pierce, executive vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, a union that represents 11,000 rank-and-file agents, said the guidelines don't allow time for proper training of new agents.
“The field training program is largely computer-based ... it’s not the hands-on approach this job requires,” Pierce said. “When they get in field, they don’t have the basic information required.”
In May 2006, President Bush outlined a plan to increase the border protection force by 50 percent, from 12,000 agents to 18,000. In an effort to speed up the training process, the Border Patrol academy has condensed 88 days of basic training into 55, which would get boots on the ground at a much greater pace.
By October 1, half of all Border Patrol agents will have less than two years of experience, says Pierce. “So essentially, what we have is trainee agents teaching trainees out in the field.”

Pierce said that along with the youth factor, the agency could be taking on an aging force as well. “The Border Patrol has raised its entry-level age from 37 to 40,” he says, which would make for a retirement age of close to 60 for agents in the field. “This is not a job for a 60-year old, I can assure you,” he says.
According to the Border Patrol's website, the academy no longer requires a high school diploma or GED for entrance, and passing test grades have been lowered from 85 percent to 70.
Background checks are another concern. Pierce said the Border Patrol is farming the work out to private contractors and no longer using the FBI, which is more thorough but also more time-consuming.
“The Border Patrol is using contract employees right now to do background investigations, where it used to use FBI agents," Pierce said. "The contract program isn’t even finished before the employee is hired. We have employees in the academy who have not completed background checks.”
Deputy Chief of Border Patrol Ronald Colburn disagrees. “We’re doing a great job of both quality training of the personnel that we deploy and of checking on their backgrounds,” he argues. “That said, does one or can one slip through the cracks, as they say? Yes.”
Colburn concedes the plan presents some problems, such as an increased youth force. “When I surveyed the field ... and talked to the top leadership, what concerned them most, it really was the youthfulness and the inexperience that we were deploying into the field.”
But he said that the increased number of agents will ultimately mean safer and better protected borders.
Not so, said Pierce. As pressure on the border continues and as worries mount that some new recruits aren’t suited for the job, Pierce is clear in his appraisal: “The Border Patrol is going to pay a price for this in the long run.”

A number of environmental experts now say that global temperatures have stopped rising — and that the earth is in fact cooling.
Jennifer Maro-Hasy, an Australian biologist and think-tank member says that even though carbon dioxide levels continue to rise that — "temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years."
In an interview on an Australian radio station last week — Maro-Hasy was then asked if her claim was controversial. She replied — "no. The head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has actually acknowledged it"
She also said that new data from a NASA satellite show that weather patterns are compensating for carbon dioxide emissions while limiting the greenhouse effect. She added — "the policy implications are enormous... I think people are still in shock at this point."

Wednesday, June 16, 2004A day in small town AmericaGot up this monring around 5:30 as I do most mornings knowing I had to go to the bank and the good old post office. Sit around the house putting it off as long as I could. Smoking and drinking coffee 'til I knew it was now or never. So off I went to do my thing. What ever that mean's? I never knew but it sounds good.........Doing your thing..... Now you have to understand that going to the bank here in my small town is not all that bad if you don't have to walk inside. Thank God for drive thru....... This was my lucky day. All I had to do was drive thru. Make that deposit.......Pay those bills........Keep the world turning..........It sucks! I don't know why I hate to go to the bank. After all it's not so bad. All I had to do was sit in my truck in back of two women with their kids jumping up and down as she sat there with the cell phone glued to her fat ear. One of her loving little fucking kids gives me the finger out the back window of the big ass SUV..she was driving. Well the line moved on and it was my turn at last. "How are you", was said to me as I drive up to the little window. "Oh hell I am fine.", I said...........It's another great day. Get over it and move on was going thru my mind........don't let them get to you. Shit it's only 9:00 am. This is going to be a long day if this keeps up. As I was driving away the little fucker in the back seat of this, big ass SUV stuck his tongue out at me. "I don't know if I would trust that kid.", I was thinking to myself. But I do know what I would do to him if I could.........Squeez his little head tell it pops.Now off to the United States Post Office. This is going to be better I just feel it. Most of the time there are no kids there. Just old fuckers like me buying stamps or mailing something to the kids that have moved away. Well get out there and make something of yourself...move to the big city. You'll never have anything if you stay here in this small town. Sounds like something I would say to a young guy or gal. Come to think of it I did say that. Ah...... here I am the post office. All I need to do here is get some stamps and mail a letter. No trouble at all. As I walk thru the door of the post office I begin to think to myself well maybe this is going to take longer than I had planed. Right away as I get in line I notice three women in front of me. They're not looking too good. You have to understand that we Americans like to support those of us that can't help themselves. Before I go on with this story. This is mostly a Welfare town and there are a lot of people on it here. Fuck working......Give me my welfare they all say. How am I going to buy my drugs without my welfare check. With that in mind I try to shine most of what I see on.........it's hard to do but I seem to be getting better at it. That's what worries me. The first thing I notice in line is this oversized woman. She look's like she is going to give birth to more than just one baby. Maybe three or four? Hell who knows now days. They have as many as dogs do sometimes now days. Damn she is fat .........I keep thinking........really fat.....one of the big one's. Shit I wonder how she.........well never mind. This woman has the biggest ass I have ever seen. I wonder when she got into town? In back of fat ass is a real sweetheart. Kinda tall with skinny legs and great tattoos. You know the ones that look like a walking billboard. I was looking at her hair....it looked like maybe a rat had been sleeping in it. Or maybe she's just not into combs. As my eyes ran up & down this thing called a woman I could see something on the ass of her white shorts..............looks like shit to me. I think ........Yup it's shit.......I can smell it. Most likely here to pickup her check. Damn am I glad we are inside and there is no breeze and I am down wind. I couldn't help but notice that one of her tattoos said..........jail is cool. Next in line just in front of me is this short gal with twenty-four earrings, the loop kind. Twelve in each ear................cool don't you think. She also had her share of tattoos all over her back and down her arm. I am guessing that she was from Mexico as her tattoos were in mexican. She didn't look to bad with the black eye she had...........maybe it was a drug buy gone bad that got her that shiner who know's? She had one of those cell phones stuck to her ear talking to her boyfriend or maybe another drug buy. I could here just alittle of what she was saying. Went something like this. Well u no man.....u no man. Well at last it was my turn to buy my stamps and mail that important letter. The little redheaded gal at the counter said to me in a halfhearted way........."Can I help you?" I was thinking to myself as I left the post office. There is no one that can help me or America. Sometimes I feel like it's over for my country. This is just one hour of one day in one small town in the land of the free. A country called America. It's time to go back to work and do it all again......... Can't wait to see what's going to be at the Post Office or the Bank the next time I go out to be with my fellow Amreican's.
